Simplonpass – After the start on the Simplonpass at 2’000 m. ascend on the left following the high-voltage line and continue to the big boulder at the outlet of the northern ridge of the Hübschhorn. The steep slope can be crossed directly below the rock face. Then ascend past the Hübschhorn keeping north to the Homattuglacier to the Breithornpass at 3’355 m. From the pass continue right and up to the middle summit.
Simplonpass – The descent is via the ascent route. This may vary depending on the risk assessment.
Maschihuis – Alternatively, descent to the Hohmattupass following the ascent route then below the connecting ridge Hohmattupass – Hübschhorn then at the first descending rock bands descend westwards into the stream bed. From here the descend is free; if conditions are good, take the avalanche track down to Maschihuis; if conditions are less ideal, take the road from Hohmatta via Bodumatta – Brunnu to Egga or Maschihuis. Postbus stops are located at both destinations.
The QR-Code is located at the summit cross on the Breithorn.
